Dr. Abdul Haque was the founding chairman (9.10.1963 to 04.12.1965) of BISE, Jessore. Prof. Md. Abdul Mazid is the 30rd Chairman (18.02.2015 upto present) in the history of Jessore Board.
When BISE, Jessore set out its journey in 1963, there were only four (greater) districts, namely, Khulna, Jessore, Barisal and Kushtia having a total of only 20 colleges and 508 schools. A new district Patuakhali was made in 1969 separating from Barisal increasing number of districts to five. The decentralization of administration in Bangladesh led upgrading all subdivisions to districts in 1984 making the number of districts to 16 (Kushtia, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Jessore, Jhenidah, Narail, Magura, Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Jhalokathi, Barisal. Patuakhali, Barguna and Bhola) under Jessore board.
Subsequently, Barisal was made a division in 1993 and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Barisal was established for Pirojpur, Swarupkathi, Barisal. Patuakhali, Borguna and Bhola districts in 1999 leaving Kushtia, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Jessore, Jhenidah, Narail, Magura, Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhat districts under BISE, Jessore.
Keeping pace with the development efforts of the government of Bangladesh now there are 2708recognized and 160 temporarily recognized schools and 523 colleges under BISE, Jessore.
Although the medium of instruction in schools and colleges is Bangla, Jhenidah Cadet College, Military Collegiate School of Khulna, Akij Collegiate School, Jessore International School, BAF Shaheen College Islamabad Collegiate School, Khulna, and Navy Anchorage Khulna and Nuhar English Medium Secondary School, Mohammadpur, Magura under BISE, Jessore offer English version of NCTB syllabus to the students..
All education boards came under computerization in 1994 that started student registration through OMR process leading to issuance of Registration cards, Admit cards, processing and publishing exam results. Issuance of Marks sheets/Academic Transcripts and Certificates were also began printed. Online publication of public examination results went into operation in 2011.
Apart from conducting SSC and HSC exams education boards now hold Junior School Certificate (JSC) exam. since 2010.
Jessore board has almost made its services automated. Now it provides services to all of its stakeholders online www.jessoreboard.gov.bd. It is time saving, economic, fast and accurate .
